This traditional rat trap is similar in design to the Little Nipper mouse trap but is considerably more powerful! If you are looking for cost effective rat control this is a cheap and efficient method.
Bait is placed on the treadle, which is raised when the trap is set. Rats have to touch the treadle to reach the bait which in turn springs the trap armThe powerful mechanism is designed to kill rats quickly and therefore humanely.
Quick and humane.
Easy to use with full setting instructions included.
THE TRAP MECHANISM MAY CAUSE INJURY. EXERCISE CAUTION WHILST SETTING THE TRAP. DO NOT PLACE SET TRAPS WHERE CHILDREN OR PETS MAY GAIN ACCESS
PFH • Professional Tip
When you get your trap/s it's best to leave them outside for a few days to weather before setting them.
Set the traps as finely as possible so that the trap will be sprung easily. Bait the trap with chocolate, chocolate spread or peanut butter. if you can wear impervious gloves so that there is as little human odour on the trap as possible.
Rats are cautious animals and will avoid new objects in their environment so do not be discouraged if they are not trapped straight away. If you are confident that the trap is placed where rats are running, avoid the temptation to move it for at least two weeks to allow the animals to get used to it.
Rats tend to have established runs usually along the edge of walls rather than across open space. For best effect, therefore, set the traps along walls at right angles to the wall with the treadle (the part that the rat steps on to trigger the trap) closest to it.
Alternatively set the traps in pairs, long-ways to the wall, with the treadles facing outwards. Placed in these ways the traps do not need to be baited as the rats will run across them rather than around them. Set the traps out of reach of children pets and other non-target animals. If set in narrow or low spaces, make sure that there is sufficient clearance for the trap to operate effectively once it has been sprung.
